Talented Mathematicians helping Miss West Maths Tutoring to provide support to even more students!
The Associate Tutor Scheme enables Miss West Maths Tutoring to provide tuition to a wider variety of students at lower rates, whilst giving promising mathematicians the chance to give back and share their enthusiasm for the subject with younger students.
At present there are nine Associate Tutors, all of whom are former students of mine that I have carefully hand-picked for the Scheme. Not only are they exceptionally gifted A Level, Undergraduate or Postgraduate Mathematicians (one is even now a qualified teacher himself), but more importantly, they are lovely people too that I have no doubt students will enjoy working with! You can find out more about each of them below.
Associate Tutors can provide flexible tuition in-person or online at reduced rates for KS2, KS3, GCSE and A Level students. They have all completed The Miss West Maths Tutoring Training Program as well as Safeguarding & Child Protection Training and are each DBS certified.
The Scheme aims to not only support the mathematical progress of tutees, but to also help Associate Tutors to develop important professional and interpersonal skills that will serve them well in any future workplace, and the ability to use tutoring to make extra income in the future no matter their career path or employment circumstances.
By giving an Associate Tutor the opportunity to support your child you are, in turn, helping a young adult to gain invaluable experience whilst having a very rewarding part-time job during their next stage of education! Who knows, perhaps your child’s Associate Tutor might even inspire them to pass the ‘tutoring torch’ and become a tutor themselves one day?

ASSOCIATE TUTOR OF MATHS
Levels offered:
Maths for Primary, KS3 & GCSE
Hi, I’m Izzy and I am in my fourth year of studying Medicine at the University of Sheffield! This year I am reading an Intercalated Bachelor’s degree in Medical Research as an addition to my medical degree.
During my time at sixth form, I studied Biology, Chemistry and Maths, achieving an A in all my subjects alongside an EPQ. I have always enjoyed maths and found it a subject I was particularly interested in pursuing further at A level, so in year 11 I began being tutored by Hollie to help push me further. She has not only helped me to develop my maths skills but also enhanced my passion for the subject. I would love to be able to help any tutees in the way Hollie has helped me. I have been a part of the Associate Tutor Scheme for four years and have experience in tutoring KS2, KS3 and GCSE students.
I’m a very affable and understanding person, who is highly committed and organised. I enjoy traveling and have been fortunate enough to spending some time backpacking several countries in South-East Asia over the last 3 years. I also spend my time walking my two dogs Ruby and Rosie, listening to music and socialising with friends.

ASSOCIATE TUTOR OF MATHS & PHYSICS
Levels offered:
GCSE (Higher & Further) or A Level for Maths, Further Maths & Physics.
Hi, I'm Tom and I graduated in 2024 with a BSc (with Hons) in Maths and Physics from the University of Warwick, and then continued my studies for another year to gain my Masters, an MSc in Predictive Modelling and Scientific Computing in 2025, achieving a Distinction (First Class). I enjoy seeing how numbers and models can be used to describe the world and I’m excited to apply this as I start my first postgraduate job as a Football Data Scientist, a dream come true!
Miss West was my GCSE teacher at school and then tutored me during my A Levels. I've always had an infatuation with maths but recognise that this fascination comes first from the understanding (which I aim to provide to my tutees). My goal is for my tutees to appreciate maths in the same way that I do, especially if that means they will perform better in exams!
I achieved an A* in both Maths and Further Maths at A-Level and a grade 9 in GCSE maths. I've been part of the Associate Tutor Scheme for four years now, through which I've tutored numerous GCSE and A Level students. As a tutor, I am proud to have been described as "a lovely person and a great mathematician".
I am keen to form a connection
with my tutees in order to understand their point of views to resolve any problems they may encounter!
Outside of work I like to play football, guitar, tennis, and enjoy running but love to talk with my tutees about any hobbies and interests they have as well!

ASSOCIATE TUTOR (& QUALIFIED TEACHER) OF MATHS
Levels offered:
GCSE & A Level for Maths & Further Maths
Hi! I'm Jacob and I graduated with a BSc in Mathematics from Loughborough University in 2024, and subsequently returned there to complete my teacher training with a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics.
Miss West was my teacher for my GCSEs at school, and served as one of my major inspirations in completing a PGCE. I achieved a 9 in GCSE Maths, then at A Level achieved an A in Maths and an A* in Further Maths. I have a keen interest in exploring interesting and unique mathematics problems, yet understand that completing those problems requires a deep understanding of fundamental mathematical ideas. Both of these principles are something I aim to provide to my tutees.
I am a friendly, curious and dedicated person, and I aim to make all my tutees feel like they can achieve anything in their mathematics career. Outside of mathematics, I also enjoy reading, writing poetry and short stories, and playing chess - something I am keen to improve at! I am very excited to join The Associate Tutor Scheme this year, and hope I can make mathematics a more approachable and enjoyable subjects for all of my tutees!

Hi, I’m Alice! I’m studying Maths at the University of Bath.
I completed my maths A Level a year early and gained an A*, and then went on to achieve an A* in further maths A Level the following year. This would never have happened without the help and encouragement from Hollie. She ignited my love for Maths and played a huge role in my choice of course at university. I would love to have even a fraction of this effect upon the students I tutor. I’ve been a part of the Associate Tutor Scheme for four years now, during which I’ve gained many wonderful regular tutees across KS3, GCSE and A Level.
I’m dedicated and dependable, highly organised and very easy to talk to. Outside of my studies I enjoy ballet lessons and I’m a part of Bath’s advanced competition team. I also play several musical instruments and in my free time I love dancing, music, reading, and doing the biggest puzzles I can find!

Maths for Primary, KS3 & GCSE (Foundation Level)
Hello, I’m Ieuan and I’m studying Civil Engineering at the University of Portsmouth.
Previously, I attended Burford School where I gained A levels in Maths, Physics and Product Design. I have always enjoyed Maths because I like to find solutions to problems. As my maths tutor, Hollie helped me enormously to develop my mathematical skills, and now I would like to help other people develop theirs. Both of my parents are teachers, so as I’ve grown up I’ve developed an interest in helping others with learning and understanding. During the past two years as an Associate Tutor I have enjoyed tutoring both GCSE and primary school students.
In my spare time I enjoy sport, particularly rugby and golf. Whilst studying A Levels I was the Junior Captain at Burford Golf Club. Amongst other things, this involved helping some of the younger members learn the rules and etiquette of the game. I am now a member of my university's Golf Club, through which I have represented Portsmouth all over the country, and I was voted in by my peers to sit on the Club's committee.
I'm a reliable, amiable and chatty person with a great sense of humour who is also able to keep my tutees focused and motivated. I'm looking forward to taking on more tutees this year and helping them to improve their maths.

Hi, I’m Leila and I'm studying Politics and International Relations at the University of Nottingham.
I studied for A Levels at Bartholomew School and gained AAAC in Maths, Biology, Politics and an EPQ (Extended Project Qualification). I have enjoyed Maths from a young age with a particular spark for it starting in Year 13 when I was tutored by Hollie.
I began dance lessons at age two and attended the same dance school as Alice and Maya (also Associate Tutors), where I gained multiple awards and qualifications in ballet, tap and modern dance. I've continued taking dance classes in my spare time at university.
I am hardworking, organised, approachable and very easy to get along with. I'm really excited to be entering my second year with the Associate Tutor Scheme and look forward to helping more younger students find their mathematical spark!

Hi, I’m Maya! I’ve just finished my A Levels at Marlborough School.
I gained a Grade 7 in my Maths GCSE and then went on to study Maths, Art and Product Design for my A Levels. I hope to go on to study and train to become a future Architect.
Hollie tutored me throughout my GCSE and my A Level. I'm very proud to be entering my second year with the Associate Tutor Scheme and aim to help my tutees the same way that Hollie has helped me: with huge enthusiasm and kindness.
Outside of my studies I work as a Swimming Teacher, instructing groups of children aged 4 to 11. I also train in dance, mainly ballet; I was a member of the vocational programme at Ballet Boost with the Academy of Balletic Art and regularly attended their lessons at the Pineapple Dance Studios in Covent Garden.
I'm hardworking and reliable whilst being easy-going and a friendly face to talk to.
Outside of my studies I enjoy reading, going on walks with my dog, listening to music and visiting family in Thailand!

Hi, I’m Joseph! I’m studying Economics at the University of Warwick.
At A level I achieved an A* in Maths and an A in Further maths, as well as a grade 9 in maths at GCSE. In addition to this, I achieved A*s in Economics, Sociology and EPQ at A-level.
Having experienced university and internship application processes first hand, I truly understand the immense benefits of being strong mathematically and the doors this can open. As a result, I feel passionate about helping young people strengthen their understanding of maths to facilitate strong career prospects and feel more confident about day-to-day numeracy. Equally, I understand that maths can be a difficult and often intimidating journey for many students and therefore seek to support students with developing confidence and fluency in the fundamentals before gradually progressing to more complex problems.
I am an enthusiastic and friendly tutor who is passionate about motivating students to be ambitious and intellectually curious. Beyond my studies I enjoy going to the gym, watching and playing football (albeit badly) and spending time with my friends.

Hi, I’m Irene. I’m currently studying A levels in Maths, Further Maths and PE at the Swindon Commonweal School, as part of their STFC6 Football Educational Program.
I previously attended Wood Green School and gained a Grade 7 in my Maths GCSE. I’ve always enjoyed maths from a young age and was keen to study both Maths and Further Maths at A Level. Hollie became my tutor at the start of my GCSEs, and is continuing to tutor me throughout my A Levels.
I’m a very friendly and laid-back person, and my friends would describe me as having a great sense of humour. I’m extremely sporty, and in the past have competed in many sports such as football, hockey, swimming, netball and tennis, and I qualified as a swimming teacher earlier this year. Being part of the STFC6 Football Educational Program allows me to keep training and playing football alongside doing my A levels. This can be intense at times but it has helped to develop my skills in organisation, time management and independent studying, and I hope I can pass some of those on to my tutees. I also play football in the WNL (Women National League) with Keynsham Town Ladies Football Club.
Outside of academic studies and sports, I love music and playing the electric guitar. I play acoustic guitar, piano and drums as well, and am a member of a band called Metacognition that was formed at Wood Green School.
I’m really excited to join The Associate Tutor Scheme this year and look forward to supporting younger students in navigating their way around maths, whilst sharing my enjoyment for it with them.
