Hi there, I'm Hollie, or 'Miss West' as students used to call me at school. I taught at secondary level for six years and my most recent position was as the Lead Practitioner of Maths at a local West Oxfordshire secondary school. In addition to that, I was a mentor and applicant interviewer for The University of Oxford's teacher training PGCE course. Having established my own successful tutoring business several years ago, I decided to leave teaching in 2019 to tutor full-time.
I am enthusiastic, bubbly, very down to earth and pride myself on my relationship with my students and their parents/carers. My passion is helping students to achieve beyond their own expectations, whilst having a relaxed and friendly approach to lessons in order to develop a productive and trusting teacher-student relationship.
Prior to teaching maths I trained and worked as a professional performer, particularly in musical theatre. In my spare time I love exploring the UK and camping with my dog in our caravan; our favourite locations are the New Forest and St Ives in Cornwall. I also enjoy board games, listening to audio books, cooking, playing the piano, and any form of arts and crafts!
